The University of Lodz Vice-Rector for Science, dr hab. Dorota Golańska, Associate Professor at the University of Lodz, participated on Monday and Tuesday (18-19 November) in the 4th Reporting Conference for entities participating in the first competition as part of the " Excellence Initiative - Research University" (IDUB) programme and universities eligible to participate in the 2nd edition of the competition. The conference was organised in Gliwice by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education in cooperation with the Silesian University of Technology.
It was an important element of the process of monitoring progress and ongoing assessment of the implementation of development plans developed by universities selected in the competition. During the 4th Reporting Conference, the achievements and activities to date in the implementation of university plans were discussed, as well as issues related to the mid-term evaluation of projects implemented under the IDUB programme, which was conducted in 2023. There was also a workshop part addressed to beneficiaries of the IDUB programme and universities eligible to participate in its 2nd edition, in connection with the results of the first evaluation of the quality of scientific activity for the years 2017-2021.
The IDUB Reporting Conference is an excellent opportunity to exchange experiences in the field of internal methods of managing additional financial resources intended to increase the international visibility and scientific excellence of Polish universities. It is also a space for reflection on the effectiveness of actions taken in individual institutions and the possibility of transferring those good ones to other universities. It is also a good opportunity to learn from one another and strengthen inter-university cooperation
– concluded Prof. Dorota Golańska.
On Wednesday and Thursday (20-21 November of the current year), also at the Silesian University of Technology, a meeting of the Presidium and Plenary Assembly of the Conference of Rectors of Academic Schools in Poland (CRASP) took place. During the meeting our university was represented by the University of Lodz Vice-Rector for Science, Prof. Dorota Golańska. The guest of the meeting was, among others, the Minister of Science and Higher Education Dariusz Wieczorek, and among the invited guests there were also representatives of the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange, the National Information Processing Institute and the European Open Science Cloud. The agenda included topics related to the challenges facing higher education, the internationalisation of universities and the European initiative to reform the assessment system in science.
In turn, the University of Lodz Vice-Rector for Education, dr hab. Małgorzata Wrzesień, Associate Professor at the University of Lodz, attended the 12th edition of the seminar as part of the series of the Quality Forum of the Polish Accreditation Committee, organised at the AGH University of Krakow on Wednesday and Thursday (20-21 November of the current year).
This year's Quality Forum was organised under the slogan "Ensuring the quality of education in the face of the challenges of the environment. Internationalisation". The programme included four main modules/discussion panels focused on the most current issues in the field of quality of education in higher education:
- Internationalisation as a key to the quality of education,
- The role of comprehensive assessment in the internationalisation of study curricula (a debate in English),
- Faces of internationalisation of the education process,
- Language education in higher education.
The participation in the Forum of the Polish Accreditation Committee is for the University of Lodz of key importance in the context of the challenges posed to universities by the internationalisation process. In the era of globalisation, growing student mobility and increasing competition between universities, the quality of education is becoming one of the most important elements attracting international students. The forum is also an opportunity to exchange experiences with other universities that face similar challenges. Thanks to this, the University of Lodz can implement educational practices that, by increasing the quality of education, will increase the competitiveness of the University of Lodz in the international arena
– commented Prof. Małgorzata Wrzesień.
