Death Cafe is a moderated discussion space where people who need to talk about death, mourning, loss, life and about what is important to them meet. It is a taboo-free space where you can ask questions, listen to other people's stories and exchange experiences. This is not a lecture, but a space for dialogue. Death Cafe is a place for open conversation about death. It is also not a support group or therapy – participation in Death Cafe is not recommended for people in a state of psychological crisis or after a recent loss.
The space for dialogue on death will be moderated by Dr Łucja Lange, who explains:
At Death Cafe, we are united by the awareness that we are all mortal. We cannot escape this topic. That is why we meet in a friendly and safe space to talk, broaden our own perspective on matters of life and death. After a short introduction, I encourage you to take an active part in the meeting and talk.
Dr Łucja Lange (Department of Sociology of Art, Faculty of Economics and Sociology, University of Lodz) is a lecturer, an animal psychologist, a therapist supporting people in mourning, a thanatologist dealing with various socially unrecognized losses and a member of the Institute of Good Death.
