Our permanent presence among the top Polish universities in terms of the number of international students is the result of the strategic direction chosen by the University of Lodz in the second decade of the 20th century. We strive to be an attractive place to study, among other things, for a wide range of international students. This is possible, inter alia, thanks to intensive promotion of the university at fairs around the world, cooperation with foreign institutions and external funds obtained as part of projects.
Currently, at the International Relations Office, we are implementing two projects financed by the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange under the Welcome to Poland programme (2022) for a total amount of PLN 800,000. As part of these projects, we promote the University of Lodz offer in various parts of the world, exchange experiences in the area of admissions and marketing with partner universities. We also want to make international students of the University of Lodz feel simply "taken care of", which is why we have created a Welcome Point, Virtual Welcome Centre and a rather unique interactive onboarding course on a national scale for them
– says Liliana Lato, Head of the International Relations Office, University of Lodz.
The activities initiated by the university for years are so effective that every third international student at the University of Lodz learns about our university from the recommendation of older colleagues. We are also more visible on the Internet: the percentage of international candidates for studies who learned about the University of Lodz from the Internet increased from 28 percent in 2021 to 41 percent in 2023. The promotion and adaptation systems are complemented by numerous events integrating international students, allowing them to settle in a new environment, build bonds and establish new contacts.
