"Przenikanie" is an exhibition of paintings (visit the project website – in Polish) not only by the two independent artists but it is also a broader conceptual project that consists in learning from each other. However, this is not just a purely academic or workshop arrangement, in which the student (Piotr Kotlicki) adopts the style of his mentor and master (Professor Ryszard Hunger).
It is rather a mutual observation of the protagonist's different stylistic preferences, which allows you to change, modify and finally develop your own style. It is a theoretical conversation but also a change in the context in which the form of a specific image is constructed, which is facilitated by the joint action of two artists on the surface of a specific work
– explains the curator, Prof. Aneta Pawłowska, who is an art historian from the University of Lodz faculty of Philosophy and History.

The meeting will be an opportunity to reflect on the issues of form, colour in a painting and exchange ideas. It will be a conversation about the phenomena of influence and transformation, but also a question about authorship, creative idea, inspiration. The interlocutors will try to analyse the still open question of whether it is really possible to give up the author's idea in favour of a harmonious chord of colours on the canvas?
It will also be an opportunity to reflect more broadly on artistic education in Poland, especially in the context of the Strzemiński Academy of Fine Arts in Łódź that both artists were associated at different times in their lives. What are the relationships between a teacher and their student and when does a teacher become a master?
