The mission of the Department of Roman Law at the University of Lodz is to engage in both research and teaching within the expansive realm of Roman law.
Our academic pursuits encompass a wide array of subjects, including:
- Comparative history of law
- History of legal teaching
- Reception of Roman law
- Continental legal tradition
- Anglo-American legal tradition
- Roman jurisprudence
- Roman legal epigraphy
- Roman criminal law
- Byzantine law
To provide a diverse and enriching learning experience, our department offers a variety of teaching formats, including lectures, seminars, and proseminars. Additionally, some lectures and workshops are conducted in German, English, and French.
