The official opening of the Lodz edition of the Salon Maturzystów 2024 was attended by, among others, Deputy Minister of Education Katarzyna Lubnauer, representatives of the authorities of the universities from Lodz as well as educational, local government and provincial authorities. They jointly welcomed the youth gathered in the Clinical and Didactic Centre building.
The University of Lodz Vice-Rector for the Popularisation of Science and Education, Dr hab. Krzysztof Pabis, Associate Professor at the University of Lodz, quoting Christopher Hitchens, spoke to young people about the need to question reality and everything that is worth questioning.
This is, in a sense, the quintessence of science. I hope that you will have as much courage as possible to question and find your own path. It is important that you do not pay attention to fashion. Follow your own passions and interests, because it always pays off
– said the Vice-Rector of the University of Lodz.
The leading public universities in Lodz, yet again, have been promoting themselves at the Salon Maturzystów at a joint stand prepared by the city office as part of the Academic Lodz. Its form refers to the characteristic of Lodz tram stop located in the city centre and called “Stajnia Jednorożców” [Unicorn Stable]. In a colourful, noisy and vibrant environment, employees and students of the universities presented a comprehensive offer under the slogan "Study in Lodz". Participants of the fair could learn about study programmes, admissions rules and all other issues related to studying at the University of Lodz, Lodz University of Technology and Medical University of Lodz.
This year, study programmes such as Law, Economics, Journalism and Forensic bBology aroused the greatest interest among students visiting the stand.
The Lodz stand will be present at the next editions of this year's Salon Maturzystów in the following cities and dates:
- Poznan – 19-20 September (Poznan University of Technology)
- Kraków – 23-24 September (Jagiellonian University in Kraków)
- Warsaw – 26-27 September (SGH Warsaw School of Economics)
