The workshops included meetings with local groups running community gardens, a tour of Bochum in the footsteps of influential women who have changed the city, a visit to the town hall and conversations with local politicians as well as a meeting with members of a non-governmental organisation that checks how politicians fulfil their election promises after winning the elections. The programme also included a visit to a closed coal mine, which serves as a museum and educational centre about the history and culture of the Ruhr area.
The trip was attended by Hanna Ćwiklińska, Aleksandra Drążczyk, Agata Zadrożna – second- and third-cycle Sociology students and members of Social Force Student Science Club, and Dr Paulina Bunio-Mroczek from the Department of Applied Sociology and Social Work.
Previous International Social Work Workshops with the participation of students from Poland, Germany and the UK were held in Wolfenbüttel in September 2022, in Lodz in March 2023 and again in Lodz in March 2024.
The coordinator of international cooperation in the field of social work education between the University of Lodz, Ostfalia Hochschule für angewandte Wissenschaften and John Moores University in Liverpool is Dr Paulina Bunio-Mroczek from the Department of Applied Sociology and Social Work.
