I would like to emphasise that this is not a farewell, but only a moment of retirement. I know that some of you are still in touch with the university, either as senior professors or in the form of part-time work. Above all, however, I would like to thank you very much for the time spent at the University of Lodz, for the tangible things: books, articles, doctoral students, but also for what is intangible: contact with you, conversations, mutual learning – for that part of your achievements that cannot be included in surveys or tables. And for the future, I wish you above all health, further curiosity, commitment and sharing this with others

– Prof. Rafał Matera, Rector of the University of Lodz, said to those gathered.

The University of Lodz Vice-Rector Dr hab. Radosław Olszewski, Associate Professor at the University of Lodz, emphasised that the basic value in life, including academic life, was respect, understood as paying tribute to our teachers, our masters.

You have given your hearts to the University of Lodz, you have devoted a lot of energy and time passing on knowledge, experience, skills to your students, often at the expense of other areas of your life – this is the foundation of the centuries-old university tradition and an important element of its development. Today's meeting is an opportunity to honour you in a dignified way and thank you for everything you have done for our university. May you be healthy, but also have time to pursue your passions and interests, for which there was not always enough space in the university work

– added the Vice-Rector, Dr hab. Radosław Olszewski.

The Rector of the University of Lodz presented all the retiring employees present at the meeting with specially dedicated letters of gratitude for their work at the university. On behalf of the honoured employees, Prof. Wojciech Katner (Faculty of Law and Administration) and Prof. Paweł Maślanka (Faculty of Physics and Applied Informatics) thanked the Rector's authorities. The meeting ended with a dinner.
