Złoty medal dla reprezentacji AZS Łódź

The Polish Senior Judo Kata Championships were held in Radom on Saturday, 28 September of the current year. Employees of the Physical Education and Sports Centre of the University of Lodz – Leszek Piąstka and Anna Jagiełło won the gold medal in the Kodokan Goshin Jutsu competition. This is the tenth championship title for these competitors from Lodz!

The win of the Academic Sports Club of the University of Lodz players has confirmed their excellent form and ultimately earned a nomination for the Judo Kata World Championships, which will be held on 9-10 November 2024 in Las Vegas.

This year, Leszek Piąstka and Anna Jagiełło have already won the bronze medal at the Grand Prix Italia. In the senior category, the two – Anna Jagiełło and Leszek Piąstka stood on the podium, winning the bronze medal in the Kodokan Goshin Jutsu competition. They were also best among Polish senior pairs at the European Championships in Sarajevo. Let's hope that the victory in the Polish Championships will be a good prognosis before the World Championships. In the past, the judo players and coaches of the Academic Sports Club of the University of Lodz took, among other things, fourth place at the World Championships in Lisbon in 2021 and fifth place in Cancun 2018. They also have a bronze medal in the European Championships (Józefów 2021).

A training session for the Polish team, led by a member of the European Judo Kata Commission, Stefan Bernreuther, was held after the Championships. He highly appreciated the skills of the AZS Lodz players.
