"Asian Debates of the University of Lodz" is a project implemented by the Centre for Asian Affairs of the University of Lodz under the grant of the Ministry of Education and Science "Social Responsibility of Science". Debates, scientific lectures and podcasts are to popularize the knowledge and results of the research related to the Asian region in the field of social sciences. It is both a platform for scientists to exchange views and present research results, as well as a modern form of reaching a wide audience.

The goal of the currently implemented project is to promote knowledge about Asia as well as to create a platform for discussion on the transformation of the region and the challenges Poland and Europe are facing. In the first discussion on the response of ASEAN and the EU to Indo-Pacific politics, Grzegorz Stec (MERICS) spoke with David Camroux (Science Pro, Paris), William Choong (ISEAS, Singapore) and Bill Hayton (Chatham, London), and in the second, which has just been recorded, Tomasz Sajewicz (Polish Radio, Beijing) talks with prof. Bogdan Góralczyk (University of Warsaw), dr Justyna Szczudlik (The Polish Institute of international Affairs - PISM) and dr Bartosz Kowalski (University of Lodz) on China in Central Europe. The two-year ministerial grant ensures that the creation of such a platform will be possible and that it will contribute to the dissemination of Asian research by the University of Lodz, both nationally and internationally – says prof. Dominik Mierzejewski, Head of the UL Centre for Asian Affairs.
The topics of the debates are based on the research carried out by experts from the University of Lodz as part of NCN grants and research in doctoral dissertations, as well as research by external experts, from Poland and abroad, who deal with Asian issues.
The partner of the programme is the Casimir Pulaski Foundation, and Radio Łódź is the media patron.
