Uniwersytet Łódzki pomaga powodzianom (aktualizacja)

Due to the dramatic living situation of hundreds of thousands of residents of flooded areas in the south of the country the University of Lodz have started collecting the most needed food and sanitary products. Currently, flood victims are asking for bedding and blankets, protective gloves and cleaning clothes, as well as rubble bags.

We are waiting for donations for flood victims in three places: 

  • The University of Lodz Library, Matejki 32/38, new entrance, ground floor, during the library opening hours (Mon-Fri 8:00 a.m.- 8:00 p.m., Sat 8:00 a.m.- 3:00 p.m.) 
  • The University of Lodz Dormitory No.5, Strajku Łódzkich Studentów 1981 r., TV room, from Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Outside these hours, donations will also be accepted at the reception of the dormitory. 
  • The University of Lodz Faculty of Economics and Sociology, P.O.W. 3/5, The collection will run from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Faculty Development Centre, building C, ground floor until 24 September. 
  • The University of Lodz Faculty of Law and Administration; the collection is being conducted by the Law Clinic, Kopcińskiego 8/12, at the reception desk on level 0, room 0.32. Donations can be delivered until 5:00 p.m. on Friday, 20 September. The collected products will be handed over to the Lodz branch of the Polish Red Cross. 
  • The University of Lodz Faculty of Biology and Environmental Protection has launched two donation points, open from Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. at designated points at the porters’ lodges: 
    - building A, Banacha 12/16,    
    - building D, Pomorska 141/143.   
  • The University of Lodz Faculty of International and Political Studies, building of the faculty at Narutowicza 59a, from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  

Please try to provide all items of immediate need. Firstly, flood victims are asking for bedding, blankets, protective gloves and cleaning clothes, as well as rubble bags. Secondarily, they are asking for bottled drinking water, long-life food, cleaning and personal hygiene products, and pet food.  

FOOD PRODUCTS:   

  • ready-to-eat food (instant, canned, preserved, jarred),
  • dry food (rice, pasta, groats, flour, sugar, flakes), 
  • baby food products (children's porridges, milk, jars), 
  • tea and coffee, 
  • milk in cartons. 

 SANITARY PRODUCTS:   

  •  soap,
  • shower gels,
  • toothpastes,
  • shampoos,   
  • dishwashing/floor/window cleaning liquids,   
  • disinfectants e.g. Domestos,   
  • washing liquid,   
  • washing powder,   
  • deodorants,   
  • wet wipes,   
  •  toilet paper.  

PRODUCTS FOR ANIMALS   

  • food of all kinds for dogs and cats, 
  • beds (preferably new, not old, worn-out blankets), 
  • collars and leashes, 
  • bowls.
