In the second part of the meeting, the presenters will talk about how their research has influenced the development of the Ceraneum’s book collection. In this context, two directions of scientific research of the centre's employees will be presented in more detail: the history of medicine and gastronomy of antiquity and Byzantium, and the folklore of the Southern Slavs.
The event will take place as part of the university's art and science programme Materia. Medium. Wymiana. Sztuka papieru, sztuka komunikacji and accompanies Zofia Bisiak's exhibition "Całe stado dmuchawców oczekuje wiatru" [A whole group of dandelion clocks awaits the wind], which can be seen until 24 March 2023 during the opening hours of the University of Lodz Library.
The meeting will be hosted by the Centre's staff: Dr Karolina Krzeszewska, Dr Zofia Rzeźnicka and Dr Krzysztof Jagusiak.
Dr Karolina Krzeszewska is a graduate of Slavic Philology at the University of Lodz. Her research interests include folklore of Southern Slavs, including verbal tradition in translation, adaptation and interpretation.
Dr Zofia Rzeźnicka is a graduate of History and Classical Philology at the University of Lodz. Her research interests Focus on ancient and Byzantine medicine (with a particular emphasis on dietetics and pharmacology) and the history of food of the period.
Dr Krzysztof Jagusiak is a historian specialising in the history of Greco-Roman and Byzantine medicine, especially dietetics, and culinary culture in antiquity and the Middle Ages.
