Nagroda im. Stanisława Lema – konkurs dla młodych naukowców

The call for applications for the 4th edition of the competition for the Stanisław Lem European Research Prize, organised by the Wrocław University of Science and Technology, has been lsunched. The competition is addressed to young researchers (people under 40 years of age) who have made a significant discovery or distinguished themselves with outstanding achievements in the field of broadly understood fields of science and engineering in the last three years. The winner will receive a cash prize of PLN 100,000.

Lem Prize has been established to commemorate the 100th birthday of the great Polish visionary and science fiction novelist, Stanisław Lem, awarded the title of Doctor Honoris Causa of Wrocław University of Science and Technology in 1981. The prize is awarded annually to one young researcher whose creative work in science or engineering has potential for positive impact on the future of civilization. 

The competition is open to young researchers who are not more than 40 years of age (born in 1984 or later), associated with a university or research centre of a country belonging to the EU or associated under the Horizon Programme and from Switzerland.
Stanisław Lem European Research Prize is awarded for a recent discovery or a significant achievement in broadly understood fields of science and engineering, with strong elements of technology, interdisciplinarity, creativity and vision.

The application (together with 2-3 letters of recommendation and a maximum of three publications) should be submitted electronically by 30 September 2024 to the following e-mail address: lemprize@pwr.edu.pl.
The competition result will be announced on 15 November 2024 during the annual celebrations of Wroclaw Tech anniversary. The winner will receive a cash prize of PLN 100,000 and will be invited to Wrocław for the award ceremony and to give a lecture about their discoveries or achievements.
