On 10 March 2023, representatives of the city, Lodz universities and business partners welcomed the students during a meeting at the MOLecoLAB headquarters. The first day, full of excitement for the students, started with a presentation by Endolink and a workshop entitled 'Lodz invites you on board', conducted by Steven Liebish. The meeting participants also had the opportunity to tour the MOLecoLAB building.

The students spent the afternoon attending classes at three universities in Lodz: University of Lodz, Medical University of Lodz and Lodz University of Technology.

The University of Lodz invited them to the Faculty of Chemistry, where they took part in lectures and demonstrations in the laboratory:

  • "Truth and myths about chemistry" (conducted by Dr Piotr Seliger – Department of Inorganic and Analytical Chemistry).
  • "Electrochemical Dirty Hands" (conducted by Dr Łukasz Półtorak, Associate Professor – Sub-department of Electroanalysis and Electrochemistry of the Department of Inorganic and Analytical Chemistry)
  • "Dangerous Bathing Beaches" (conducted by Dr Barbara Krawczyk, Dr Karolina Czarny-Krzymińska, mgr Renata Juszczak – Laboratory of Environmental Risks of the Department of Inorganic and Analytical Chemistry)
  • "How does aspirin help?" (conducted by Dr Katarzyna Urbaniak – Department of Organic and Applied Chemistry)

The students spent the Saturday attending classes at the Łukasiewicz – Lodz Institute of Technology: "The role of analytical methods in assessing the safety of consumer products", "Flammability testing of products in terms of requirements and safety", or "Evaluation and testing of textile products in terms of their durability and service life". Next, the young people participated in the workshop: "Bacteriophages – from wastewater to antimicrobial preparations" at Proteon Pharmaceuticals S.A.

The rest of the weekend in Lodz was spent on exploring the attractions of our city: the students visited Orientarium Zoo Łódź, the Science and Technology Centre in EC1 Łódź and the Geyer Gardens. They also went to see a performance at Teatr Nowy.

Zasmakuj studiowania w Łodzi is a series of events organised by the City of Lodz Office to encourage people to study at universities in Lodz, during which students from the best high schools in the Lodz voivodeship can feel like students for a while. During a 2-3 day trip to Lodz, they participate in thematic activities related to their interests – at universities and in companies. They can have a meal in a student canteen, have fun in a student club or at a concert, and see the main attractions of the city during a guided tour.

As part of the campaign, stays are also organised for school principals, teachers and didactic employees. Over the years 2017 and 2022, 280 students and 45 school principals and teachers took part in nine editions of the project.
