The internship supervisor was an outstanding researcher of urban morphology, Prof. Vitor Oliveira, President of ISUF (International Seminar on Urban Form). (International Seminar on Urban Form). The establishment of the Polish ISUF network at the University of Lodz Faculty of Geographical Sciences was formalised in 2019, and in 2022, the University of Lodz Faculty of Geographical Sciences, Lodz University of Technology and Cracow University of Technology jointly organised the world congress of this organisation.
During the internship, Dr Musiaka had the opportunity to get familiar with the specifics of the operation and research directions of the host unit. He participated in scientific meetings of CITTA employees and presented the results of his research on post-war spatial transformations of cities in Poland and Europe. Comparative studies of the long-term consequences of the transformations of historical centres of European cities constituted the main theme of his stay. Dr Musiaka, together with Portuguese partners and researchers from other countries, are planning to implement a joint project in this area.
The implementation of the internship tasks was accompanied by a practical analysis of the urban form of Porto, the second largest city in Portugal after Lisbon, whose history dates back to the times of the Roman Empire.
