It is with gratitude and humility that I stand before you today, honoured to assume the role of Honorary Consul of the Federal Republic of Germany in Lodz. I am fully aware of the responsibility that this role entails, and I pledge to perform it with dedication and integrity.
Poland and Germany share a common, albeit complex, history. Today we celebrate a relationship based on cooperation, shared values and mutual respect.
Lodz, the city I proudly call home, is a place where history and the future intertwine in extraordinary ways. Once an industrial centre, Lodz has reinvented itself many times – sometimes so quickly that even Google Maps has trouble keeping up! Today, it is a centre of creativity, innovation and diversity, a city that attracts entrepreneurs, artists, and scientists from all over the world.
However, the history of Lodz is also a history of coexistence – Polish, German, Jewish and Russian communities built this city together, leaving behind a rich legacy. In the face of globalisation, this legacy of cooperation is becoming more relevant today than ever.
As Honorary Consul, I will be happy to contribute to further strengthening the Polish-German partnership by supporting dialogue and cooperation in the scientific, economic, cultural and social spheres
– said Professor Monika Namysłowska.
