Prof. Marlena Sakowska-Baryła członkiem zespołu przy prezesie UODO

Dr hab. Marlena Sakowska-Baryła, Associate Professor at the University of Lodz has been elected to the Social Expert Team of the President of the Personal Data Protection Office (in Polish PUODO).

The nomination ceremony was held on Tuesday, 4 June, during a conference organised by the Personal Data Protection Office (in Polish: UODO) entitled "Personal data protection in the European Union. Where are we heading on the eve of the European elections?".

The issue of personal data processing in connection with the upcoming entry into force of the Whistleblowers Act was one of the most important topic which were discussed. The second topic pertained to the growing cybersecurity threats, which are also related to the protection and processing of personal data. Today, we must also see the protection of personal data as a security or even national defense system, so together with our team we will work on proposals in this area, including the analysis of risks that administrators in particular industries may face 

– added Mirosław Wróblewski, President of the Personal Data Protection Office.

The task of the newly established team will be to support the President of the Office in the implementation of their tasks specified by law, in particular in the field of advising and expressing opinions on matters presented to the team. It will also recommend initiative activities in the area of personal data protection and prepare, in consultation with the President of Personal Data Protection Office, expert opinions and positions on personal data protection matters. Furthermore, members of the team will promote good practices and perform other tasks commissioned by the President of the UODO regarding the protection of personal data, especially in the area of new technologies.
