Magdalena Łuczak has been recognised as the best academic skier in the USA this year and received together with the team of her American university the award of the President of the United States, which was presented on behalf of Joe Biden by Vice President Kamala Harris. The ceremonial meeting with the athletes, combined with the presentation of awards, took place on 22 July of the current year in Washington, in the gardens of the White House.
Prof. Elżbieta Żądzińska presented Magdalena Łuczak with a letter of congratulations during yesterday's meeting at the University of Lodz Rector's Office.
The University of Lodz is extremely proud that a person who combines scientific interests with a passion for sports and achieves success in the international arena is a member of its community. I would like to point out that your achievements emphasize the importance of the Studies and Sports programme, which has been developed with such talented and ambitious students like you in mind. As a university, we are happy that we can support and promote such talents, making it possible for young people to simultaneously pursue their sport and academic careers
– reads the letter signed by the Rector.
Magdalena Łuczak, devoting herself to a sports career, studies at the University of Colorado in the USA and at the same time at the Faculty of Economics and Sociology of the University of Lodz. This is possible thanks to the Studies and Sports programme that has been implemented by our university. It makes it possible to combine a sports career with high-level academic education. It offers student-athletes the flexibility of learning and the support necessary to achieve success in both fields. Thanks to this, Magdalena Łuczak can also represent Academic Sport Association in Lodz.
