15. Festiwal Kamera Akcja x Uniwersytet Łódzki – 15 lat współpracy

The 15th edition of the Camera Action Festival includes as many as 135 films (on-site and online), 60 guests, including Oscar winners, creators appreciated in Cannes, and rising stars of cinema. The Festival programme is full of this year's most famous productions, including "Megalopolis" by Francis Ford Coppola, "Substance" by Coralie Fargeat and the latest film by Gilles Lellouche "Beating Hearts". The University of Lodz has been a patron of the Camera Action Festival since its inception. The jubilee edition of the Festival is therefore also the jubilee of our mutual cooperation. As every year, the programme will include film experts, graduates and people associated with our university.

The 15th Camera Action Festival will be held on 24-27 October 2024 in Lodz and on 14-23 2024 online on the Think Film platform.

The Festival, will feature discussions about audiovisual art and meetings with artists. The Festival guests include Sandra Drzymalska, Michał Oleszczyk, Łukasz Maciejewski, and Christian Friedel, lead actor in the movie "The Zone of Interest" and Oscar winner Tarn Willers will be special guests. During the Festival, you will be able to see the latest Polish productions such as " Pod wulkanem " by Damian Kocur, which is the Polish candidate for the Oscar, "Lany poniedziałek" by Justyna Mytnik and "Dziewczyna z igłą", the winner of the Silver Lions at the last festival in Gdynia.

Camera Action x UniLodz

The University of Lodz has been a patron of the Camera Action Festival for 15 years, simultaneously contributing to the development of interest in film criticism.

Mariola Wiktor – a graduate of Cultural Studies at the University of Lodz, a film journalist, a correspondent of prestigious festivals from around the world will be the winner of the special award.

As every year, Student Science Club for Film Studies of the University of Lodz supported the selection of short films and animations submitted to the International Competition Authors Spotlight. This year, Hanna Tkachova and Wiktor Szymurski have selected their favourites from nearly 200 entries. An integral part of the festival is also the Krytyk Pisze (Critic Writes) Competition, addressed to creators of critical texts on film who want to take their first steps towards working in the film industry. The Jury of the Competition, with Dr hab. Kamila Żyto, Associate Professor at the University of Lodz as one of its members, will select the most interesting texts in terms of critical and analytical aspects, which will allow young creators to spread their wings. During the closing ceremony of the Festival, the Jury of the Student Science Club for Film Studies of the University of Lodz, consisting of Jakub Dulny, Karolina Majka and Antonina Noińska, will present their award.

Discussions between the invited experts will be a highlight of the Festival. The discussions during the anniversary edition will be chaired by Dr Michał Pabiś-Orzeszyna – a valued researcher of VR/AR production and reception, Assistant Professor at the Department of Film and Audio-Visual Media, University of Lodz. The discussions will focus on three slogans:

  • "sensitivity" about censorship, cancel culture and nostalgia, 
  • "prime-time" about the Polish TV series market, which will be discussed by producers and scriptwriters, including Łukasz Dzięcioł, a graduate of Film Studies at the University of Lodz,
  • "network" – about dependencies in the film industry.

  • Industry Pass for PLN 169 for those studying Film and Cultural Studies..  
  • Promotional Pass for PLN 179 for students of other study programmes and for holders of the University of Lodz Alumni Card.

The passes can be ordered until 10 October (inclusive)!

Pass holders will be able to enjoy access to on-site events as well as to the preceding online events on the Think Film platform. After 10 October, only Last Call Passes will be available at the price of PLN 299.
