Polish historian, professor, employee of the Faculty of Philosophy and History at the University of Lodz. In 1990-1996 he held the position of Dean of the Faculty, in 1996-2002 he served as a Vice-Rector for Teaching at the University of Lodz. In 2002-2008, he held the office of the Rector of the University of Lodz.
He is an author of numerous publications on socio-economic history
Honours and awards:
- Member of the Łódź Scientific Society (since 1985).
- President of the Lodz Branch of the PTH (1990-1992)
- Member of the University Accreditation Committee (1998-2002)
- Member of the Committee on Historical Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences (1996-2002)
- Awarded the Gold Cross of Merit (1978) and the Knight's Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta (1990)
- Laureate of the City of Łódź Award (2000) and numerous awards of the Minister of Higher Education and Technology for scientific activities
