SCIENTIFIC AND SOCIAL MEDIA PROFILES

POSITION DESCRIPTION

Conducting empirical research and teaching students of sociology, social work and foreign students in a frame of Erasmus+ and other exchange programmes.

BIOGRAPHICAL NOTE

My research interests concern the Finnish socio-economic model and public policies there, the relationship between sport and politics, social inequalities and public discourse. I have written four books (including two co-authored) and more than 70 peer-reviewed academic texts on these topics. I have had the opportunity to publish in journals published by most of the major academic publishers (Wiley, Taylor&Francis, Cambridge University Press, Elsevier, Sage), and I regularly write reviews of articles, publishing proposals and grant applications (including reviewing applications and coordinating the preparation of evaluation reports for the European Commission's Marie Curie Individual Fellowships programme). For 7 years I chaired the Sociology of Sport Section in the Polish Sociological Society, and for years I have also been on the Board of the Łódź Branch of the PTS. I am also a member of the Westermarck Society (Finnish Sociological Society).

I have had the opportunity to teach at universities in Germany (University of Göttingen, Free University of Berlin, Justus Liebig University in Giessen), France (Sophia Antipolis University in Nice), Czech Republic (Charles University in Prague) and Estonia (University of Tartu), but I have spent most of my time outside the UŁ at universities in Finland conducting research and teaching at the Universities of Helsinki, Tampere, Turku and Jyväskyli.

I believe that it makes sense to disseminate the results of our research outside of academia, and that it can be done in a way that engages the audience without making the message too shallow. As part of disseminating the results of my research, I have cooperated with traditional and new media, publishing, among others, in Tygodnik Powszechny, Krytyka Polityczna, oko.press, Forum Akademickie, Le Monde Diplomatique, PAP website, giving interviews to Polityka, Duży Format Gazeta Wyborcza, TokFm radio, YouTube channels Podróże bez Paszportu, Obserwator Międzynarodowy or Raport o stanie świata, TokFm radio, Radio 357.

INTERESTS

I am interested in Finland not only academically but also as a hobby, I have already had the opportunity to travel from Inari to Helsinki and from Vaasa to Kuhmo, and I keep coming back. I relax by doing sports and reading crime novels (thanks to audiobooks often at the same time). And non-stop I am a supporter of Widzew Łódź
