BIOGRAPHICAL NOTE
I graduated in Chemistry from the Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry of the University of Lodz in 1994. I obtained the PhD degree in 1997 on the basis of a doctoral dissertation entitled: "Jodometryczne oznaczanie 2-merkaptopirydyn i 2-markaptopirymidyn" [Iodometric determination of 2-mercaptopyridines and 2-mercaptopyrimidines], which was supervised by Prof. Witold Ciesielski. I became a doctor with a habilitation degree in 2010 at the University of Lodz based on the thesis entitled: "Reakcja jodo-azydkowa w chromatografii cieczowej" [Iodine-azide reaction in liquid chromatography].
I have decided to continue my professional career at the University of Lodz. I became the Head of the Sub-department of Chemistry Teaching and Science Popularisation in the Department of Environmental Chemistry at the Faculty of Chemistry in 2011. From 2016 to 2020 I held the function of the Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Chemistry for Student Affairs and Quality of Education. I became the Vice-Rector of the University of Lodz for Student Affairs and Quality of Education for the 2020-2024 term.
I specialise in analytical chemistry. Additionally, I conduct research on the complex skills of learners and students in teaching chemistry.
In 1995 I became a member of the Polish Chemical Society, under which I was appointed the Chairman of the Chemistry Teaching Section in 2015 and 2018. In the 2019-2023 term of office, I have been a member of the Management Board of Polskie Towarzystwo Diagnostyki Edukacyjnej [Polish Educational Diagnostics Society].
From 2015 to 2019 I was a member of the scientific council of the Central Examination Board.
INTERESTS
I conduct my main scientific research in the field of chemical sciences, in the discipline of chemistry. The research is aimed at developing new analytical methods for the determination of biologically active compounds.
The second mainstream of my research interests is about studying the complex skills of students in teaching chemistry.
