1. The dean heads the faculty and is its representative.

2. The dean is the supervisor of the staff and students forming part of the faculty, under the authority of the rector.

3. The dean takes decisions concerning the functioning of the faculty which do not fall within the competence of the bodies of the University: directs the financial management of the faculty; submits a draft material and financial plan for the faculty to the Faculty Council; based on and within the limits of the mandate given by the Rector, incurs liabilities and makes expenditures on behalf of the University in the scope concerning the faculty, as well as performs other legal actions concerning the property of the University at the disposal of the faculty, except for the disposal and encumbrance of real estate; co-ordinates teaching activities in the faculty; takes action on research activities resulting from decisions of the College of Sciences; takes decisions or submits proposals on the appointment and dismissal of heads of organisational units of the faculty; takes decisions and submits proposals on other matters related to the activities of the faculty.
