Major shareholder of Aflofarm, Poland's third largest pharmaceutical company after Polpharma and Adamed, however, his company is the first in terms of selling over-the-counter products.
Andrzej Furman pursued his studies in economics at the University of Lodz and subsequently worked as a teacher in his hometown, Pabianice. However, in the early 1980s, he transitioned to the local Polfa pharmaceutical plant. Until the late 1980s, he worked as a deputy and then as a chief accountant. He left the company in the late 1980s to set up the Abakus financial consulting office, focused mainly on creating analyses for the Polfas around the country. After some time, Andrzej Furman decided to venture into pharmaceutical wholesaling, leading to the company's name change to Aflop. The company grew rapidly and began its own production in 1993. After a few years, the company's name was changed to Aflofarm, and the strategy was transformed, making Aflofarm the market leader in OTC drugs. An important part of the company's portfolio also includes prescription drugs, which are constantly expanding, as well as products from other categories.
Currently, Aflofarm, which already employs more than 1,000 people, is managed by Furman's sons: Jacek, Wojciech and Tomasz.
Meanwhile, Andrzej Furman is actively involved in the life of Pabianice and serves as the president of the "We Love Pabianice" Foundation, which provides subsidies for various projects, including the development of city infrastructure and equipping local medical facilities with specialised equipment.
