Twórca Robo-UV walczy o nowy las w Łódzkiem

Deepjyoti Nath is an Indian-born computer science student at the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science, University of Lodz, who has built a robot helping to fight the spread of COVID-19. Together with City Robotics, a company he co-founded, he gets involved in pro-ecological activities to help save the planet. City Robotics is co-organizing Bieg dla Wszechlasu 2021 [Run for Wszechlas 2021], i.e., a virtual run thanks to which they are raising funds for…the protected forest.

Participants of the event will support a very noble cause - planting legally protected forest in the Lodz Voivodship, which has the lowest forest cover in Poland. The initiative will be supported by Las Na zawsze [Forest Forever] Foundation, experienced in this type of activities. Everyone can support this goal and one of the ways to do so is to participate in the event.

The Virtual Run will take place between 4 October and 10 October, which is the Arbor Day. The organizers propose 3 distances, which can be covered walking, running or cycling.

Everyone willing to participate is welcome. Details and registration information can be found on the website of the event.

The run is organized by City Robotics and Wszechlas - Las na zawsze i dla wszystkich [Forest forever and for all].

Deepjyoti  and City Robotics get engaged also in other pro-ecological activities. They have partnered up with Las Na zawsze [Forest Forever] Foundation so as to make monthly donations from each robot sale to plant forests together.

Deepjyoti as a creator of a robot fighting with Covid-19

We have written about the UniLodz student before, on the occasion on his invention of Robo-uv, a fully autonomous disinfecting robot using UV-C light. So far this method has been used in laboratories to disinfect equipment and tools. The UV-C light is harmful to humans, but not to robots. And so, the Robo-uv becomes an extremely valuable ally in the fight against coronavirus... The City Robotics project won the first prize during the "Development Vision Forum" in Gdynia.

One more time diversity of #UniLodz turns out a great asset. We support ideas of our talented students.

Eco-project at #UniLodz

We are very pleased to see more environmental initiatives being implemented by the academic community. Both central units and Faculties get involved in ecological solutions. The EkoEkSoc [Eco Faculty of Economics and Sociology] or BeeBlioteka [Bee-Library] i.e., an apiary on the rooftop of the University of Lodz Library, make up the beginning of a longer and longer list of initiatives promoting care for the natural environment that are carried out by the University. Eco-projects of UniLodz are also complemented by educational activities and promotion of pro-ecological attitudes among employees, students and residents of Lodz.
