Ryszard M. Machnikowski, dr hab. nauk społecznych w zakresie socjologii (2010), absolwent Wydziału Ekonomiczno – Socjologicznego Uniwersytetu Łódzkiego (mgr, 1991), dr (1996, WEk - Soc UŁ), hab. (2010, WNS UWr), od 2011 r. profesor (nadzwyczajny) UŁ w Katedrze Studiów Brytyjskich i Krajów Wspólnoty Narodów (Brytyjskiej), w latach 2016 - 2019 prodziekan ds. nauki i współpracy międzynarodowej na Wydziale Studiów Międzynarodowych i Politologicznych UŁ, od 2019 r. dziekan Wydziału Studiów Międzynarodowych i Politologicznych UŁ. Od 1.10.2023 r. kierownik Katedry Teorii Polityki Zagranicznej i Bezpieczeństwa. Od 1.10.2022 r. kierownik Centrum Analiz i Prognoz Strategicznych WSMiP UŁ. In the years 2016 – 2019 vice-dean for research and international co-operation at the Faculty of International and Political Studies, University of Lodz. Since 2019 the dean of the Faculty of International and Political Studies, University of Lodz, since 1.10.2022 the head of the Center for Strategic Analysis and Forecast, since 1.10.2023 the head of the Chair of Theory of Foreign Policy and Security. In the years 2005 – 2009 the Head of the Center for Strategic Studies and Forecast, the Lodz School of International Studies, Poland. Specializes in terrorism.political violence and security studies, transatlantic relations, problems of globalization, author of three monographies and more than 70 scientific articles, chapters and reviews on problems of European security, terrorism, transatlantic relations, globalization and European integration. Participant of joint institutional and individual international projects, seminars, workshops and conferences on security, transatlantic relations and terrorism. External Expert of National Forecast Program Poland 2020 (2006), Expert at the National Science Centre (since 2014), Foreign Expert and Fellow and Associate Researcher of the Security and Defense Research Team at the French CSFRS – Conseil Superieur de la Formation et de la Recherche Strategique (2019 – 2021, od 2021 r. – till now: Equipe securite defense - ESD, Conservatoire National des Arts et Métiers - CNAM), since 2016 member of the Conseil Scientifique of M. Sc. Studies in criminology at the Conservatoire National des Arts et Métiers in Paris, external expert and member of the Board of Advisors of the Countering Lone Actor Terrorism (CLAT) network project co-ordinated by Institute for Strategic Dialogue in London (2016 – 2017), consultant of the Police force in Lodz, a rewiewer of "The Internal Security Digest", member of the Scientific Council of the periodical "Terrorism - studies, analyses, prevention".
